About Tamara
Singing is a passion and
way of life. I am even more passionate about teaching; singing is a
very complex, subjective and personal experience. It’s viewed by many
as a “high-risk” adventure. If you were to ask people, “If you could do
anything in life, what would you do?”, the majority answer would be “A
Rock/Pop Star.” Performing is full of allure, adventure and
intriguing. There’s a lot to it; music is a serious business, and I
love it!
When my students walk on
stage, I want them to have as much ammunition as they possibly can. I
take it very personally because they are taking a piece of me on stage
with them every time they perform, and yes, it needs to be a perfect
world. It’s the most amount of sharing and giving you can do, and it is
so important to be prepared not only vocally, but mentally and physically
for we are vocal athletes. That doesn’t mean we don’t laugh in our
lessons, it has to be fun.
I currently have students that are
signed with major and indie record labels (Sony, Columbia, Arista, Iris),
major publishing houses (HitCo), Grammy contenders and Dove Award
Winners. I have some of the largest management companies and best known
record producers entrusting me with students, so I am constantly around
performers that are on the cutting edge. I have worked with the finest
voice teachers in the business and I am always seeking to further my
singing and teaching abilities. If you want to be the best, you go to the
best and make it even better. I feel that in order to be a great teacher,
you better know how to sing pretty damn good yourself!
I teach Grammy Award winning vocal techniques that support healthy, balanced and connected vocal posturing. It’s an efficient way to sing that can be applied effectively to all styles of singing. The techniques I use truly are state-of-the-art and results oriented. Many are “instant gratification” but have to be practiced so that they are “constant gratification”. I avoid unnatural posturing of the voice but am all about pushing it to the edge and having it stay healthy. Knowledge is power, and there’s a lot of discipline in singing. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a professional, I can teach any level of performer.
I encourage a positive
attitude, self-esteem, correct vocal technique, stage presence so you can
‘bring it’, and how to embellish. You need to know how to sell it! My
students have an eclectic and diverse background; rock, pop and jazz
touring professionals, musical theater, comedy, local bands, or just sing
because they love to do karaoke.
Lessons are either 45 or 60 intense and
fun minutes long. Cost is $75 for 45 minutes or $100 per hour. I have
three convenient studio locations from which to choose, far north suburbs,
downtown Chicago, and Milwaukee. Please call for availability and
booking. The only learning materials needed are an open mind, a blank CD
to record the lesson (CD’s can be purchased from me at the time of the
lesson if preferred, they have to record at 1x), and the music you are
currently working on, whether on CD, piano (provided) or guitar.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to helping you reach your goals.
Shoot for the moon, the worst thing
that can happen is that you’ll end up in the stars.
Musically yours, Tamara Anderson |
